How long after you thought you got caught should / do they come through?

Is there a time limit in which they have to prosecute?

yea i think it is 14days, but am not 2 sure..!

for me and my mate it was bout 3 weeks for that dreaded letter to come through the letter box!

if u dont recieve it in a certain time then they carnt do anything can they ?

i heard that if they fail to send it out within 14 days they send a bloke round with a trunchen and probe your arse with it instead. just what I've heard, not from experience.

is that true? only my mate got caught doing 100.23 on the motorway, dont know the full details to the story, and what i do know seems to change each time he tells the tale, but basically he was caught over summer, early August time, and recieved a letter only a few weeks ago, and now he is in court on Monday facing a ban, is the time lapse thing true? or is it just an urban myth?

If you are caught by a policeman the notice of intended prosecution is served at that moment, the paperwork then can take as long as it likes to arrives.

If you are caught by a camera they have 14 days to issue the NIP otherwise it is invalid (provided you are the registered keeper of the car on the PNC), the RAC have a helpline to help with such things. You still need to reply, but you don't want to fill the form in. Do a google for some advice.
