Insurance is a ****ing joke

Featured Replies

I have been getting quotes for my polo next year... I'll be 18/19 with 1 years no claims...and:

A 1.0 Litre, Polo L, 3 door hatch back is going to cost me about £800 unmodified...

Whereas,

I could get a 1.6, Polo L, 4 Door saloon for £840...

How the hell can they justify charging almost the same price for a 1.6 as a 1.0?

(well I guess I know, Hatchbacks are more sport and tend to be driven by younger, more crazier drivers than 4 door saloons... but still... damn companies)

i pay just over of a grand for 3 motors&a bike. ncb&in you twenties is key.

being 17 sucks.but at least you can still go carrol singing to earn the extra cash for your insurance :lol:

Aye it sucks and none of it makes any sense! I moved to Birmingham from a very low crime area and it increased my premium by £1000 or so at most places, when the car is only declared to be worth £300! Yeah, the theft risk is higher but they still only have to pay £300 at most.

Oh well, will have some ncb in 9 months!

3k for a vauxhall corsa 1.2, or a 1.3 polo genesis copue for 1300

get a 1ltr then it'll be cheaper....

I'm not really complining about mine cos i got 3 points but teh corsa I'm complain about 3k on a car that is like 4 grops lower than ma polo, cant work it out???

I used Confused, got a good quote from Quinn Direct and it didn't change when I took it out. They've provided excellent service as well even when I've asked a bit much of them at short notice regarding european cover.

Well 23 insurance companies wouldnt insure me and the only quote i got off of confused.com came back at £4675 on a mk4 1.3.

Its all coz i passed my test on the 5/12/2005 wrote my clio off on the 31st january then got done speeding which got me a further 3points, i already had 3 coz of my moped (dont laugh i need a way to work) so i lost my licence and repassed my test on the 17th August and on the same day got hit by a dozy idiot in a Golf who wont claim liability.

So when i fill my details in they either run a mile or think wow we can take his life savings plus more!!!

Nikyboi :-p

It costs me about £400 for me on my mk2 gti.

Sorry to piss on your parade lol.

(I'm 21 and female! wooopwooop)

costs me a little over £1k for insurance on a 6n2 polo gti

and I'm only 18 with 1 years no claims its all about finding a good company

Wow thats not bad, whos that with?

Wow thats not bad, whos that with?

elephant pretty much the only company that will insure me on it in my name

I'm £550 in my own name, for my 1.4 8v with 1 yr ncb

Me and a named, driver. Both 22.

Both with convictions, me a DR10, named driver CD10. (you can look those up online if your intrested)

No, no claims, and me driving for 0 months due to just getting my licence back. (only had it for 11 months to begin with, I am not proud of myself)

on a MK2 POLO 1.05cc

confused.com best was £511.74 from budget

HIC best was £341.16 from Highway Special

I'm sorry to say it but you 17/18 year olds are gonna get screwed for a few years. I'm sure my insurence would be much less if those convictions were not there. (Mine will be N/A in just over a year anyway 8-) )

When I got my First car, a citroen AX 1.1 injection (pretty quick 55mph in second (35 in first)!!)

I phoned an insurance company, they quoted about £500 less than the others, (£800 instead of £1200)

so I said "YES" stright away, sign me up. What a bargain.

When the bloke ran through my details on the computer it turns out he put me in as a Mrs not a Mr.

With the changes guess how much the insurance was?

Thats right, £1200.

The car was only worth £800!!
