Insurance is a ****ing joke

Featured Replies

my gf was trying to get quotes for a un-modded GT

the best she got, with 2 years driving exp, 0 ncb, £936 tpft

that sucks, i got my engine conversion, 60mm lowering and uprated brakes declared for that, 0 ncb as well...think postcode has a bit of an effect on price as well idk

Yeah Postcode is an very important factor. Living away from bad areas and town centres could save you ££££.

I get quoted higher than a few of my mates with same age, car. Thats cus I live 5 min walk away from Manchester city centre. A BIG high risk area. Apparently...

I get taken up the arse by the insurance companies just because I live in Birmingham. My insurance LEPT up when I moved from Leicester a few years ago.

And I'm 31, with 8 years no claims, and no accidents, claims or convictions in the last 3 years.

your insurance is so expensive in he uk. i live in jersey. and I'm 17 first car with 1 bike claim (not my fault but other person was not insured so had to claim off my own  ) I'm driving a 1999 polo 16v, lowered, 16"s, iduction kit, manifold. all mods declared £1020 fully comp with a £100 excess. and i though that was expensive

Yeah but you gota consider other external factors...for example how likely will your car get robbed in Jersey? I don't think it would be wise for criminals to travel miles offshore to steal a Polo. The accident rate must be low in such a small area. Also due to less number of cars, you are less likely to have an accident.

It makes sense, we live on a much bigger island...therefore more dangerous... :-D

yeh i spose. but with 90,000 people living here and between 40,000 and 50,000 cars on an island of 42 square miles. not many cars get stolen here or broken into really. but there are lots of crashes. but hey I'm not complaining. only shit thing about living here is u cant slam you are car because our roads or totally shit, u really need suspension travell when going quick.

try this website i get very good quotes with them...

Adrian Flux is the nuts. £360 for me :p

my renewale is guna be 2500 :( on tesco i need cheap insurance and fast it ruined last summer i couldnt aford anything las year

£564!!!

1 years NCB?

How the fuck?

I'm getting old :-(

And I still only have 1 years NCB on my toys policy :crybaby:

And if you think that's cheap, you should see what the insurance is on my other car (2.5 litre V6 with 30k business miles a year).

i paid £580 for my polo gti insurance this year, I'm 21 with 4 years no claims.

for my first year i paid £1800 for my 1995 corsa 1.2 tpft

I was paying £320 for a 160bhp modded g40 with adrian flux (ensign)

I only have 3 years no claims.

My lupo track car stripped out with a cage is only insurance group 6 but I'm paying £380 for it :doubt:

The Lupo 1.4s is £180

Some benefit of being 27 i guess. even though i live in a well dodgy area.

I was paying £1000 for a civic type-r with only 1 years no claims when i was 25, then 26 was paying only £700 for a 262bhp modded mk5 golf gti with 2 years.

Yup Try E-car! I'm with them and they seem good.

on 25k miles a year.

Just me driving a 1999 Golf GTTDI worth £4K

Quoted renewal was £1200, slightly more than I paid the previous year for some bizarre reason.

Adrain Flux quoted £850, even gave me a discount when I said I was a police officer! Must mean I'm a low risk driver or something :paranoid:

Yep, fully comp

I might give e-car a call, there has to be a slight catch hiding somewhere...

They wouldnt quote me, i have to many mods:(

I'm 18, in my 1st year of driving. started of on a 96 1.4 16v corsa for 1400, someone else crashed it and insured a 99 1.2 16v corsa for 1600, changed it at start of week to my polo gt for an extra 65 quid!! :) BUT cos it was a named driver on my policy who crahed my car its affecting my ncb cos the case has been dropped by the police saying its 50 50 which it is clearly not given the circumstances of the accident!!

fingers crossed come march the case will be settled!!

and my insurance company said it doesnt matter how much u insure a car for, they will only give u market value back for it, i got more than i had my 1st corsa insured for back after the accident!

i pay £740 fully comp on a 98 1.0. cant remember who I'm with! but its the same company as my mum and her bf so i got a load of discount because we're all with the same company! still high tho!

I'm 24, had my licence nearly 2 years but only had a car since may last year so no no-claims yet. hate to think what ill be paying when i change the engine and do some serious mods! :crybaby:

Insurance is a nightmare!!

You think thats bad..I have not long been 17 and have a polo 6n2 1.4 16v and paid..wait for it.....

£2200!!!!!

Thats with Direct Line.

vdubdav, your car is Insurance Group 10, i dont think you can expect much better at 17.

I'm 17 and got a quote on the folks 6n2 1.0 Mpi..........£1200 and thats insurance group 2.

I'm sure i can get loads cheaper but £2200 isn't bad for insurance group 10.

I've got a 1.4 16v pay £900 2 yrs no claims I'm 18

what pissed me off is that i gave my gf my old car polo 1.6 8v and i was guna pay £800 renewed wen the 16v poped up cudnt resist and well shes got 3 points 1 yrs no claims that she lucky to hav (2 acidents dint tell insurance and bloke cudnt b arsed to go thru wit claim) yet she pays £350

ARG pisses me off

i dont get ther maths

has anyone tried Quinn Direct?

i'm with them and I'm 18 with 1.0 litre R reg polo, no claims what so eva and in my own name its £960.

still expensive but better than the others
