how u doing u guys u alrite?

I'm about to get my car serviced for the 1st time since i bought, (last serviced at 70,000 with previous owner, now on 85,000), but when I'm reading about it, people present there service book so they can get a stamp in it....well when i bought mine i didnt get a service book, but i got all the reciepts for the work that was done, so my question is..should i carry on getting reciepts or do i need a new serivce book?

My car came with its original service book, but it had only been stamped twice, once for the PDI and another for its first service. After that, the new owner never bothered having it stamped, but instead just kept all the receipts, like yours.

I've started using it again, just for my own reference more than anything else. If you can live without one, then no need to get a one I shouldn't think. I recon a stamped service book together with the relevant receipts will have more clout when/if you come to sell it, rather than just a hand full of receipts or just a stamped service book (the latter being easy to forge).

So, its up to you really.

Some of the newer (post 6n?) VW service books are available new on eBay (but I think they can be pricey for what they are). Failing that, you could look for a barely used one in a scrap yard, although the data in the front will be all wrong. Put out a call in the wanted section and see if someone has one they can give/sell you.
