Insuring vehicles off the Road

Featured Replies

Just interested to see if anyone on here has a project car or summer car that is not on the road and garaged for long periods of time, that is also insured. I mean fire and theft insurance type with the value of the car agreed.

If so, I'm interested what people pay for this and how good the insuarnce company is.

My mum used to have her Healey on one of these. Cost about £20 a year IIRC.

can you still get NCB with this?

Nope, but I think you can use it to keep a NCB at the level it was at if you've stopped driving.

a NCB is valid for 3 years iirc once you stop having insurance.

It is, yes.

Mum hasn't driven for about 20.

my mk1 spends half the year off the road in my garage & i never bother cancelling the insurence

seeing it has no tax at this point.....will it still be covered?????

you don't need tax to get insurance, it's the other way round, so I don't see why it wouldn't be valid.
