Got a minor problem - i am buying a car but due to work being sh*tty i can't afford to insure it until the end of february. I want to pay it off as a lump some at the start, to save £600 in interest etc by paying monthly.

Problem is i'm buying it this weekend, and i was just gona keep it on the drive until the money rolls in again.

IS it okay to keep it on my drive, taxed, for a month? Or do i need to sorn it and then re-tax it? The car will come with a full years tax, so if i sorn it will i lose the tax? Or can i re-apply it once its insured?

if you're getting the car this weekend, you can get a refund on the remaining full months tax if you declare SORN. then if you dont drive it until early March you can then retax it which will save you a months tax. I guess it depends if you want to go to the post office twice to save £10 or so

tax only goes from the beginning of a month and in full months.

if i was you and u cant insure it yet get it without tax. that way you can make your minor touches to it while its still on the drive then when you have enough money slap 6 months tax on for 60 quid with your insurance. thats what i did with my car :)
