modified cars

Featured Replies

I noticed a post on here, think it was last week about Quinn insurance company, i now have my policy with quinn and am just after some advice on what the deal is with modifying the car?? I have printed a form from the quinn website which requirs an engineers report completed by one of the following

1) main dealer

2) automotive institute engineer

3) SIMI approved garage

4) DOE test center

Does anyone know what or where i can find one of these and how much it is likely to cost as i have a set of springs sat in the garage waiting to go on the car but dont want to void my policy. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks John

i thought quinn direct only insured over here being an irish company?

Nope I'm from Bolton and insured by quinn direct!

yeah i've bin insured with them for a couple of years now. Cant beat them for price and Mods are never a problem.

just got a quote from them, £1500 with 1 years NCB, I'm paying £1100 atm with 0 NCB

thats a bit silly! what company u with?

£1500 with 1 years ncb - quoted from quinn.

at tho mo I'm paying £1100 fully comp and 0 ncb with frizzell.

I'm finding with a lot of insurance companies, after i gain my first years ncb my premium goes up!?

i'm with holdsure atm and i started at £1400 for my first car when i was 17 on my own policy. (it was a 1.4 16v corsa). changed car after THE PERSON NAMED ON MY POLICY CRASHED IT!! and it was the same group but slighly newer car and it went up 200 quid.

then i got the mk3 gt (this is all in the first year of driving!!!) and they wanted another £65 for it, that was at the start of January there. Now my first year insurance is up (i was insured for a month on my mums policy before i got my own for the first year of you get me!!) and i got my renewal quote through- £2400!!! although i dont have a 1yr ncb, it wasn't me who crashed the car and the company knows that- plus it wasnt his fault.

anyway... Quinn quoted me £1200 with no ncb on the car- which i thought was bloody good in comparison. so next step is declaring my mods- which i only have wheels atm but I'm getting coilovers and a few other wee bits and bobs but they are all cosmetic. so anyone gettin insurance for nothing? i still have to shop around for other quotes to get the lowest.

Lisa.

i'm 18 and have one years NCB Quinn were by far the cheapest I'm only paying £600 (fpft)

£1500 with 1 years ncb - quoted from quinn.

at tho mo I'm paying £1100 fully comp and 0 ncb with frizzell.

Unlucky

Better have an accident quick then!
