Limited mileage policy

Featured Replies

My Polo will be insured limited mileage from next week. My mileometer is a bit intermitent, and if it was involved in an accident, could the insurance company claim that we could have gone over the limited mileage, and therefore the insurance isn't valid?

I'm not really sure how limited mileage works.

Hi if you go over your limited mile insurance they will pay out but they will make you pay a higher premium before they pay out.

how do they work out how many miles you've done, is it just off the mileage reading on the speedo? if so what would be stopping you from switching between 2 different speedo's with similar mileage on them?

They didn't even take a reading of what it was when I took mine out

How do they work that out?

I'm guessing from your MOT through the database

Well that's a rough idea..

but I could just say the previous owner did those miles?

The MOT says it's done say 100,000 miles and I could do 50,000 and say the previous owner did 49,000 since it was MOT'd?
