Comments:

Picked this car up Mid-March, the HPI report says it was imported into this country a fair few years ago and came in a lovely shade of grey, over the years i was eventually hammerited by the 4th owner who was going about restoring the shell. The former owner stripped it back to bare metal, sorted out all the rust on the car. Audi smoothed door handles were next follower by a respray in Audi Rot Pearl. Many gti enthusiasts were shocked as its not a factory colour but its still from the VAG group and looks damn sexy. Had a 250 mile drive home with her and she didnt miss a beat, but we narrowly avoided a fox that ran into the road that would have been the end of me, the car and the fox. Thankfully i got home in one piece.

i knew nothing about cars really before and everything bar the mot and a couple of other jobs have been done on the car by myself, i tend to break more stuff than i fix but its all documented in my blog, a good read if you want to sift through :)

Very nice.

that is brilliant! .... i'd get 14's probably, and get it abit lower, but it looks amazing!

bet that cost some? also is this the 'stolen' one?

  • Author

the price shall remain a secret for the time being but i was happy to spend that kind of money on this car, still I've managed to buy two mk1 golfs for the same money i sold my g40 for woop woop.

This isnt the one thats registered stolen, this was the car i initially wanted in the first place but had to wait for the guy to finish a few odd jobs.

Ill try and take and upload some pics of the other "stolen" dub tonight, basically i dont know if I'm going to be able to keep it, which means i wasnt going to waste any money on her modding it.

however my housemate told me this morning that if we do get to keep her then he's going to give his *cough* pug diesel 306 to his brother and have the other mk1 golf

woooooooooooooop theres now 4 mk1 golfss on my road, 2.0 16v mk2, mk4 polo with 16v bumpers n some tasty brocks.

very nice indeed, i do like the mk1 (I should hav kept mine)

awesome, i saw this fly past when you were trying to catch up the manc convoy to UD!

we were in the petrol station filling up a jerry can for craigs quad!

  • Author

haha i think i overtook and missed all the convoy and saw craig stranded on the m6!

clutch cable snapped today on the way to work! had to call on the services of me mates from work to help me push it to the car park. have to sort that out tonight, shoudl be fun on the tow home!

also got coilies to swap on the red mk1 as they are getting sold tomorrow. busy day and i dont finish work till half 4 :(

hopefully i fill out what i can do with the red mk1 soon and then i can go about selling it or swapping it for a mk1 polo

heres some pics, you can see the red one is dropped on its ass!

got some chrome mirrors and clear taillights this weekend for the purple golf, fitted the lights already, gotta get the heart to drill into my doors to fit the mirrors haha but the mirrors are pimped so its gonna be done.

still waiting to find some bucket seat subframes that will fit a golf 1/2 or polo 1/2/3 so that i can stick those babies in my car, i love the rocco leathers but normal seats just dont work with harnesses, period.

once the puple golf is back on the road I'm going to take her to the garage and have the tracking and camber looked as its all out of sync.

got so much work to do its unreal

  • Author

turns out its even worth that a snapped clutch cable, the passenger side drive shaft came apart and shed its bearings on the road, had to wait 4 hours for a flatbed to come pick me up rather than risk damaging it towing it with a friends car.

cant get in on the drive either so I'm going to have fun fixing it all this weekend

cheers

yousaf

  • Author

update.

wasnt the clutch-cable but was indeed the driveshaft, turns out my inner cv joint was fubared so will be getting a new one this weekend.

going to fit the braided hoses, mirrors and trial fit the TT dash at the weekend,

also managed to swap over the suspension on the red golf, turns out the previous owner lied about the suspension that was on there, they were avo coilovers not h&r. I'm guessing they lied about them being re-furbed then as they would have sent them to the wrong factory then.

Edited by grungeisdead

I'm now prepared to name and shame as people who sell on these forums and take the fuckin piss is well out of order.

i shall be avoiding him/his brother and midland vw at all costs now

Please could you clarify that you did not buy this car from Midland VW, and as such the problems with the car are nothing to do with that business.

Thanks!

  • Author

Hi Andy,

Yes, i have just spoken to Jody Lees, the owner of Midland VW, and i am sorry this was not meant to be any sort of dis-respect to midland VW. I did not buy the car from Midland VW.

It was a private sale through ebay, the owner of the vehicle simply works for midland vw and as such should be able to tell the difference between two sets of coilovers. especially when they have stickers on them. however this is not representative of MVW, he may have just forgotton

Sorry for any inconvenience or bad press, and i hope that is clarified.

Ps. i do not believe in any way shape or form that the gentleman who sold me the car was aware it stolen but the coilie fact kinda sent my head in a spin!

Sorry Jody, glad we are clarified on that matter now :)

She pimps hard!

And that idle is lumpy as with the new cam in. I want my Polo to sound like that :-(

Sweet

removed the 280s yesterday to fit my newly refurbed g60 calipers and brembo max 256mm discs in prep for my 14x7 borbet ts that are on the way...

had to order a new drivers side wheel bearing housing as my current caliper mounting holes have been dethreaded DOH...

also taking off the samcos and selling them, replacing them with GSF ones, its cheaper and they will do the job well, was annoyed with the samco kit and wont ever buy another from them... ever

oh backbox also fell off and got lost in rochdale so a replacement backbox in en route... gaaaaaaaay, car does sound SICK now tho if rather anti-social

and yes it does sound the titties with the new cam... mmmm
