Comments: Got the car in the June of 2004 and never really did much with it until last year when I finished uni (was the commuter then).

Really started with the black ATS Cups I picked up two weeks before Polo Show in 2006 which looked really smart but were sold due to scrubbage issues after the suspension got put on on the 21st February 2007. The car sits on its stock 14" most of the time but not too bothered as it still looks quite good.

The engine in this thing is a work of art, some people may not be able to get past the fact its a 3-cylinder diesel engine but that really doesn't matter to me, what does matter is the variable vane turbo which means 2nd and 3rd gear are immense amounts of fun, great for schooling boy-racered, chavved up cars who don't realise what they're up against

Future plans are for fitting a Votex or Polo GTi spoiler to tidy up the looks and maybe look for some other wheels, along with exhaust, panel filter and some other trick bits and pieces!

Update: (19th April 2008) Done some housekeeping on the spec as she's been remapped now, ran a 17.5 1/4 at GTi Spring Fest, should be able to get into the 16's hopefully! Future plans include exhaust and sorting out the sound system and, if I have enough money, FMIC and interior retrim

Pictures: one on the Cups and a few others from start of 2007

  • No mega updates on this again, though is likely to be making way for new project (another rocco ) Realised that most of picture links are broken for the most recent pics so here's a small selection

Looking good mate, but it looks lower than 40mm :paranoid:

Am i right?

Good to see another 5-door in gallery, must be lower than 40mm looks more like 75-80mm to me, mind you I don't know how high tdi' are standard. looks good though :finger:

The tdi will have a heavier engine and gearbox wich means it should sit lower if the springs are not designed for a diesel.

I think thats right anyway?

Looks good mate. A couple of nice touches there. I have to say aswell looks like its down about 60mm. Like the first pic, very ghetto! :D

Looking good there Jon

Have to agree that from some angles it looks lower than 40mm but it must be somewhere around that mark, as you said today its just your heavy diesel engine weighing everything down!

Cheers

Cheers for that....yeah most people who see it for the first time reckon its more than 40mm, but having measured arch gap and edge of arch to wheel centre before and after, it is roughly around 40mm,

Back in March, I put it next to Si_GTi's GTi which he reckons is down about 50mm with coilovers on 195/45/15 and I was on 185/55/14 at the time (same difference)

Here's the result (mine on the right):

Dunno matey, I paid someone to do it as I'm a lazy arse

Anyway, quick update as got some good pics of the car at Polo Show, where it ended up 33rd out of 55 in Show & Shine, not bad for me first crack at it

So after roughly 2 1/2 hours cleaning and polishing, the result:

Now I know what you were on about when you said they stick out lol. I always thought they were banded steels until you told me today that they were actually ATS cup style alloys.

Thinking about investing in some coilies, look at her sometimes and think not low enough, but then I go down some of the roads near me and think 'its low enough!'

Should be having an exhaust fitted tomorrow if all goes well
