ta, I've had the car 4yrs and am still not sure about the vent myself. It works, there is a chuffing big hole in the bonnet, and I get loads of charger noise, which is good!! She looks better in the pictures that in the flesh.

Since Piccies were taken I have added:

Painted front and rear bumpers

6N GTi front spoiler

PSD Silicon Hose Kit

Front Upper and Lower Strut Braces.

New Picces online soon.

She is in need of an almighty rebuild though. Am wanting to add, bigger intercooler, oil cooler, ported throttle body, stainless manifold and zorst and a ported inlet manifold. should be knocking close to 170-180bhp with additional mods. I have sourced some new alloys as well, I've got some 15" OZ turbos. need outer rims though and not decieded what width yet. got a few plans for outside and inside.

Looking good and liking the spec.

Bonnet vents real marmite tho but if it's functional just leave it.

really would like to see tha pictures cuz my loon is the same colour n I'm not shure if it would look good,

like the vent, its either you love it or hate it sorta thing haha

Car looks tidy but the scoop isnt my cup of tea either. Kind of looks like the pan from a dustpan and brush.

i like it mate, i like the vent purely on the fact that its there for a reason, not just for show.

whats the braking like? been looking at rear conversion and or big brake conversion

Cheers Jake

The hand brake is an on going problem. have to make cables up as there isnt a cable that fits straight out the box. Pedal feels a better and it stops very well. Looks awsome with drilled discs. Easy as to fit I believe that mine are a mix of mk2 golf stub axels and calipers from a audi 80. most of it is pretty much all the same anyway.

Calipers from mk2 golf gti does not fit?

Have finally started the rebuild. Head is off and have replaced all 8 valve stem seals and cam oil seal. Inlet manifold and throttle body are at G-werks being ported and gas flowed.

The charcol cannister has been binned so too has the boost recirc. Have modified a redundant aluminium drinks bottle into an oil catch tank. All new gaskets to go on. May well order an oil cooler very soon.

Just got to get the cambelt off and replace crank oil seal, having trouble with the bottom pully so kinda putting that off.

Body wise have sanded, primed and put two coats of paint on the door mirrors and have started to prep the rear spoiler.

Lots happening, best bit is that it is a workshop where i work, which means I am getting paid to strip, fix, mod and rebuild my car! Awsome.

should be finished in a few weeks so will upload piccies as soon as.

Home grown oil catch tank, samco hoses and boost recirc bined! cant see it but there is also an oil cooler hiding behind the grille

Edited by pluto8022

which sizes/ part numbers are the samco pipes the one to the catch tank and the bend you can see ;) cheers mate

The catch tank is a drinks bottle from Blacks and the hose is a 1m buy 22mm and the bendy hose is a 45deg and a 50 something diameter. Both hoses and the trumpet came from demon tweeks.

Makes a coooool nose now!

Wonderful G mate... Good work...

Those 270mm discs from what model are they coming from? Are they custom made from the kit?

Think the red stripe in the bumpers would look awesome on this !

  • 3 weeks later...

I beg to differ jake......i dont think it would suit the colourcoded bumpers, although i could be wrong

Lovely G though man 8-)

looks much better with the colour coded bumpers, where did you get them?

EDIT:just saw you painted them

was it easy to paint, did you fill the whole things or just sand them back?

The brakes were an off the self TSR brake kit. Its a bracket that bolts too the upright and moves the caliper out enought to clear the bigger 270mm discs. TSR also did/do a 280mm but need a min of 15" wheels. It will pull up from a 100 to a standstill in under a 100yards! Late braking for roundabouts is great fun!

The bumpers were painted by a guy I used to work with. The rear was 2nd hand and already painted and the front was a brand new half primed one from my local VW dealer. It had been in stock for ages so got that quite cheap! Not a brilliant job but only paid £50 for both! The mirrors I did and sanded the texture off took chuffing ages!

I Like :D

Not a fan of the Vent but knowing it acctualy does something makes me like it :)

vent is gay but you know that.

i also liked the black mirrors more, kinda broke it up.

asides from that, very very clean.
