If my bf (20) was to put me (19 + 2years no claims) on his insurance would it make it cheaper for him?

I've been told it would, but i dont believe it somehow.

Why doesnt he just phone and ask. It will probably make it more expensive if anything.

Yeah best thing to do is phone and ask because of your age, but I added both my parents (45+ with 20+ years clean licenses) and it knocked about £300 off my £1300 quote on some sites, just for having them as named drivers, so yes it can make it cheaper, but best to check with his company.

Apparently he's "too busy" to ring :? he will do though but i thought id just see if anyone knew on here first.

I thought it would make it more expensive too!

Got my mum n dad on my policy, dropped it from £990 to £840 (first car, 17 years old)

But again, not sure with your age.

he would need to put someone much older and with more NCB on hes policy to make it cheaper.

Having the NCB won't make any difference as the NCB would stay with the other person's policy.

Sometimes. The best way is to put someone really old on it.

I would it would be cheaper, if you delared the car was in your name , and you would be driving it most of the time.

Would be cheaper if it was your policy and he was a named driver tho!

I think if you're Male, and you add a Female named driver who is over 25 it reduces your premium alot of the time. Worked for me.

So just add any 25+yr old female you may happen to know to your policy for an instant discount! Genius, even simpler than quoting a CP code hehe.

What did he say you were to him??

Just a friend?

If you're living with someone or married then it reduces it because they think you have responsibilities and will need to look after yourself more

Not always the case. Although my wife never drives my car, I always used to have her on the policy because it did make it cheaper - however, she keeps having accidents in her car, and so I've had to remove her from my policy because she adds about £200 to the premium!!!!

If you add someone who insurance companies consider to be a much lower risk than you, then it can lower your premiums due to the fact that some of the time the car is on the road, it may be driven by them instead of you, but in my experience they've never asked how much a named driver actually drives that car.
