Just wondering do's anyone know of any good companies to insure my car with as I want to use it for extra practice,

from what i gather being on L plates does not make a difference to your insurance, as you are being watched by an experienced driver, this is what my girl friend was told when she told her insurance company she had passed as was expecting some sort of refund.

at the moment I've found elephant hav given me the best quotes but I'm sure different companies giv different parts of the country, age etc...beter or worse quotes

I heard companies have to charge the same whether L plates or not.

i was learning last year in my polo, £1300 with L plates, £1350 without em (quinn direct)

couple of yers ago when i was learning was the same price when i got my licence

I'm on L plates with bell (flexibell policy) was the cheapest around, when i pass my test my total annual premium goes UP by £300 - you're more of a risk as a new driver on your own, than as a learner with an experienced driver.

I took out a ten month policy and won't pass til at least 4 months into it - i'll only pay 60% of the £300 for the remaining 6 months, so around £180.

Come renewal time in December though, 19 with 1yr NCB and Pass Plus, it should drop my premium from £1800 with a full licence, to around £7/800!!

Normally insurance on L's is a fair bit cheaper than once you've passed. Beware places offerring you a cheap quote on your provisional, as this may be to entice you in. Ask them for an "in principle" quote for how much it'll be when you've passed.
