I'm considering lowering my mk3 but not if it affects the insurance.. I'll probably go with a mod friendly insurer next time (quinn etc.) so I'll have to wait until then if they're funny about it.

and what are they like with smaller mods? central locking, tinted headlights etc.?

They'll ask for more money on your policy, but you won't be insured like for like.

If someone steals/sets light to your car expect the cash to pay for a standard one, with valuations taken from Parker's guides.
