If you are on about the DVLA info, it should be free? You just change the cc on your V5, and post it off. After signing it of course.

Only increase in cost will probably be your insurance. That will be personal to you though, might cost me £20 more a year but cost you £200 more a year. Theres no set rule, judge on case by case.

I've done the same as you intend to do. I only had to incur a £30 admin charge for a mid-term adjustment to my policy. I was with Brentacre at the time who are pretty easy going with engine conversions (you're given a maximum power bracket, in my case it was up to 80bhp). They simply say as long as you stay under that figure, you can change the engine, add a turbo, add NOS, etc. For your insurer I would ask for a quote before you carry out the work and see how it will affect your policy.

With insurance covered, the only other chnage I had to make was on the V5 changing the engine number from AAV****** to 3F******. As mine was a 1.3 to begin with the cc remained unchanged. If you can't find the engine number on the donor vehicle or on the block, thats the only other instance you may incur a charge (£5 to DVLA Fee Paying Enquiries, who will be able to dig up chassis numbers, engine numbers, etc from the donor car as long as you can supply atleast the registration). If you do need to send an enquiry off, a cover letter explaining why you're requesting the information is all you need.
