I just did a confused search for you using my details and it came back at £1106 3rd party fire and theft with Endsliegh. I'm paying £300 less than that for my 1.0 mk3 Polo with directline after a phone call that lasted about 2 hours lol.

I'm 17 as well, but living in a very low crime zone helps me out a fair bit.

Good luck getting a good quote. If Quinn Direct offer you a decent quote I would go with them, have heard nothing but praise for them.

nice one mate cheers

i done a confused search and got 1300 on my own insurance I'm pretty happy with that but if anyone else can recomend any companies then be most apreciated :D

Don't touch Cofused or Moneysupermarket etc when it comes to finding a decent quote. The ones who appear on their search results are the ones who pay them the most amount to be up there in the first place. Unfortunately, you're going to have to spend an afternoon or two producing individual quotes on different insurance firms - but it should prove rewarding when you've saved yourself £200 or so.

Try the Admiral group, Elephant, Adrian Flux as those tend to be the best for first time drivers.

get yourself insured as a 2nd driver mate, I'm on my brothers insurance for a mk4 1.4 and its £750 tpft...

People say that you dont get any ncb which is true but by the time you stop mooching off whoever your insured with you will be older and insurance will be cheaper anyway...

To OP: Who will use the car the most? Yourself?

If the answer is yes, then it will be "cheaper" in your someone elses name as it will technically be fraud.

Get insurance via the ones I mentioned above and then put somebody on as a named second driver. This will reduce the quote somewhat and you'll begin building your NCB whilst doing it legit.

it not fraud. if i were put down as emergancy driver then yes but there is no limitation to how much the 2nd driver can use the car...

'Fronting'

Fronting is the means of obtaining insurance by deception. A parent may ‘front’ a policy for an inexperienced driver in order to reduce the insurance premium. If fronting is proven insurers can treat the policy as void, return the premium and repudiate any claims reported. The premium may be retained against claims already paid and the difference recovered from the policyholder/ driver. Third party claims may become the responsibility of the vehicle owner/main user. In addition from 15th Jan 2007 fronting becomes an offence under the Fraud Act 2006, and can lead to imprisonment, fine or both.

That's from Norwich Union and just about every other insurer in the land will have the same stance. Ok, you can say "well how are they going to find out?", but you would be absolutely astonished at how many private investigators are used by insurers.

It's actually quite possible to get a policy in your own name for much the same cost as being a named driver anyway. Don't accept the first quote a company gives you. Haggle. Say the price you're willing to pay (seriously, not £100 or something) and see what they say. I've had answers ranging from "If you can get a quote like that take it mate coz I really doubt it" to "I'm sure we can sort something out sir!"

Have fun!

Try a classic policy with Lancaster.

Classic policies don't like under 21s I'm afraid. And on checking Lancasters site, drivers must be over 21.

Alot only give you limited mileage aswell.
