I have once again got another problem!

This time... I've sent all the correct stuff off to dvla to get my private number plate off of my polo and put on retention.

The silly people there have then sent me a letter back asking me to drive my polo (which i am currently uninsured on(i dont drive it)) to my nearest dvla office so that they can 'inspect' it... what on earth, why do they feel the need to do this!

It means i have to get insured... which will be a pain in the arse and also have a day off work. What do they think this is!!

How can i get out of this? and why do i need it inspected if the plate is coming off?

help please!?

Just say

"If you want to inspect the vehicle it is currently at *** address, if you would like to inspect it you have my permission. If you need access i will leave a key with my neighbour"

if they say no say you cant afford to take a day off work and would expect them to cover this and insurance costs.

forget writing letter. get on the phone. ask why they want to inspect the car

The DVLA inspect a sample of all cars that go through reg changes, etc...

It's just a control measure - sadly you've been selected as part of the sample.

If the car is roadworthy then you could get someone who is old enough to get one day insurance maybe?

This is all so frustrating... unlucky me hey... once again.

Yeah i will try to get my brother to insure it but he will just moan at me. what a fanny. hehe

Unfortunately the car in question still needs to have a valid insurance policy, for you to be covered.

DON'T WORRY! Inspection is a harsh word for what they actually do.

My golf had to go to Leeds DVLA for one of these 'inspections', due to me taking the private reg off.

In my case 2 women came out, one with a clip board, i was then asked to read the vin number, one wrote it down

and checked it against whatever and that was it! I think it took about 2 minutes.
