Hi folks,

Just came to replace nearside TCA on my mk2 and the replacement from GSF seems nothing like the original in terms of the bush on the body end. The original has a metal tube in it that's 44mm long, whereas the GSF one has a 40mm tube in it. Problem being that when I fit it and tighten the nut to recommended torque of 60Nm, the bracket on the body bends inwards and the rubber bushes seem way more tightly packed than with the original TCA. Bending brackets like this worries me somewhat...!

Any ideas as to whether it's the right part? It's GSF's 42211 bit but I was wondering if this sounds more like the G40 TCA and they've stuck it in the wrong box?! If it's the right bit, does this sound normal to you?

I bought a pattern tca and wasn't overly chuffed with it. If the original sleeve fits in the sftermarket bush then i would use that. Cant comment on the naughty arms tho.

If you wish to upgrade the bushes at a later date to aftermarket poly items (not saying that you WILL) then you will prob find they wont fit the aftermarket arms.

I did get the metal tube out of the old bush but the new one won't come out - I reckon it's probably bonded in there. I'm trying to figure out how this arrangement actually works - is the metal tube supposed to lock in the bracket with the bush moving around it when the suspension goes up and down, or is the tube meant to move with the bush?

I wouldn't have thought that should matter.. having it in place will stop the mount being crimped in and also sleeve the bolt holding in the bush.

GSF dont do G40 arms iirc.

Came to fit another GSF TCA a couple of weeks ago and the inner tube in the bush was the correct 44mm. Same part number too. Could do well to be a bit wary of some of these GSF parts

No I don't think they do. Plus a G40 TCA doesn't even have a rubber bush in the middle, it's a metal bearing.

just sounds like the pattern part you've bought isn't very good.
