i think we have all done it

rah... I've never been done on the a3 ! and 3am too! unlucky dude!

there is a fair few cameras on that 50bit though... should have waited for the national speed limit bit :D

I'm still waiting for a ticket to come through from the last Scottish meet, blasting up the A90 in the early hours of the morning, but I *hope* I didn't get flashed lol. Tav was going through most of the cameras at 80ish on the way down so I think I'll get away with it!

No chance, you're looking at a court appearance and a ban I'm afraid.

IIRC anything more than 25mph over the posted limit is court and a ban.

It's more than over 30 the limit not 25, not that it really matters in this case since you were doing 34 over the limit.

However, when you say you were doing 84 was this just by looking at the speedo? Because if so then it's quite possible your actual speed was less than that. So with a bit of luck you might get 3 points & fine if you were actually doing less than 80.

If you were doing more than 80 then you are probably looking at a court appearance with the possibility of a ban. If you need the car for your job then you might be able to get them to not ban you.

should've asked to see the calibration certificate for the gun as they have to carry one and show it when asked.

Saying that, i forgot too when i got pulled and the bastard was hiding behind parked cars. As he jumped out to stop me i nearly flattened him. (WIsh i did!)

I've never been caught speeding. I stress caught.. I'm not a slow driver. I developed a sense for when i can and cant floor it. Sometimes i just know,i dont know how,and i start to feel uncomfortable. When this happens i slow down, and usually pass a copper within the next half mile. Its a gift, but is based on common sense and staying alert. I always know whats going on around me,its essential to.

cant put it any clearer then that :)

Yeah but some people cudn't even spot a marked police van up their back bumper...

@jrahmad98: have you got the NIP yet?

I hope you don't get caught but try not to worry about it. I thought I got caught once and worried myself stupid for a few nights. Just try not to think about it and if the worst does happen then think of positives like at least you didn't crash at that speed etc. I am not saying that you'll get banned but that probably would be the worst thing they'd do to you.

they need to have a visible marked car that you can see aswell as a speed camera sign!

just count 17days from now.. if you dont recieve the NIP by then youve got away with it.

When the traffic police pull you over after catching you with a hand held device, they give you a verbal NIP.

General guidelines

Limit Fixed Penalty Summons

20 mph 25 mph 35 mph

30 mph 35 mph 50 mph

40 mph 46 mph 66 mph

50 mph 57 mph 76 mph

60 mph 68 mph 86 mph

70 mph 79 mph 96 mph

You'll get a summons for that, and can 3-6 points and up to a 56 day ban. Saying that though, if you've only been driving for a year, 6 points and they'll have your licence off you anyway.

Yup henrys right, you only get one in the post if you weren't given one at the time of commiting the crime. (Sorry bout the rhyme)

Court appearance coming up, unless your case gets lost in the system. Trying to discredit the camera device probably won't do you much good anymore, its been done for years now. That book is really old. some useful stuff, but not all relevant. Hope you don't get banned dude.

Have a read of that. I know you were not doing a over a ton. But in that thread it shows people doing the same kind of speeds but getting completely different fines/points and bans.

Really is down to the judge on the day.

I have 6points on my licence which i have held for a year, have already had to retake my theory and test so legal.

Got stopped last night for doing 75.66 in a 50, i wish i hadnt but what I have been advised to do is a speed awareness course.

http://www.driver-improvement.org.uk/NSAC/NSAC_f_a_q.htm

That can have the points and fine taken away but ask the Police force to offer it to you.

Hope this helps you as it might me!!

Nick

So you lost you license once already by getting 6 points and then proceeded to do 75mph in a 50mph limit all within your first year of driving?

If this is the case i smell a ban coming.

Yea n its my fault but like anyone i dnt wonna lose my licence! I never speed coz thers no point but last nyt i jus wnted to get home

Gotta go speak to the coppa 2nyt about doing a speed awareness course.

Fingers crossed

you hear anything yet mate???

3am? hiding behind trees?

fucking pathetic

Sorry :paranoid:

When you get to court there is no guidelines on what they give you

Its all down to the magistrate

When i went last week for doing 28mph over the limit the magistrate said she would ban me

if it wasn't for the fact i worked for the council as they wouldn't be too happy and the fact I had no previous speeding convictions

only 3pts for a bald tyre

I think they will look at the fact that you have had your licence less than 2 yrs and I can't see them banning you unless the magistrate got up on the wrong side of bed

But instead of banning me which i wish she would of, she gave me 6pts and a £340 fine

I know i was in the wrong but i do not agree with how they accumulate the fine, apparently they take 50% of your income which is balls cos if i was unemployed i would of got away with payiong peanuts

Totally wrong me personally think driving with no insurance and correct licence is worse than speeding to some extent yet they don't seem to punish people who do this as much as they do for speeding

Crazy

that fine is stupid :(

gutted for u m8
