No,its the one that goes pink.. The brackets are thin stainless tubing squashed at the ends. Two rods hold the carbs together,and they're bolted to that,and the threads on the head for dipstick/ht lead bracket. Had to drill another hole in the bulkhead for the cable,closer to the battery than the original. Its all intuition,really - there were various problems,and you just gotta work round them.

Not really scandalous.

You've applied some more modern technology to an older car. An older car that doesn't have to meet the rigourous safety and emissions regulations that modern cars do. Adding safety usually means adding weight, improving emissions often impacts engine efficiency - and hence performance and economy. Couple that with a majority of the general public that demand new cars with electric windows, power steering, ABS etc. it's hardly surprising that modern Polos have a shitload of weight to hump around!

Back on bike carbs... what size chokes are you running Mikey?

They're only 37mm (or somethin like 36.8) but thats still bigger than the gas-flowed ports - and unlike Webers,they point up so you can see them open from the drivers seat! With the bonnet open,obviously.

I've got some 40mm Minukis to go on the pug... it's a 1.4 and should be pushing out 100-120bhp. Too big possibly?

The choke cable isnt connected. It starts in one second,though the first five seconds are only about 500rpm,and is fine after about ten seconds. I'll need to connect it by the winter,though. The throttle bracket is the old swirlpot bracket butchered lol. Yes its Tornado,and goes like it. Cosworth/Scooby kind of swift,it humiliates anything that tries - if only cos anythin fast enough wouldnt try!

The hoses are 1.1/4 inch 'pvc wire-reinforced suction hose',40mm bore,and were scrap offcut from work. You'd get some from an industrial hose supplier such as http://www.1excel.co.uk who sell it for like £50 for 10 metres,so you'd wanna try and ask for an offcut. It doesnt go far at the moment,while i look for a stronger gearbox.. Id like to do a pod run,though.

They dont hang around,those little rice nukers But mines got torque - it'd be interesting.. Adam,they'd be fine on the 1.4,the jets are more important. Should be about 1.40 standard,which will likely be enough for over 100bhp.

I dunno,i wouldnt do more than 70 on public roads.. Its the 4+E box,standard. Or the 4-E at the moment. Not the best for quarter mile sprints,I'm sure,but it isnt geared for treble figures in fourth - and if i cant get 120 before a quarter,i might aswell not turn up..

LOL, 180/200bhp g40s get circa 100mph passes.

120mph will put you deep into the 12s..... which you'll never achieve.

Trust me, 4th on the 8P (4+E, 4-E or whatever you want to call it) will do at least three figures. Even with 175/50 tyres it will just about do it (111 @ 6800rpm according to my spreadsheet)

8P isn't too bad if you have the power to pull 4th. On my 1.4 GT I was always right at the end of third going over the line. This could have been fixed with slightly bigger or alot smaller tyres. (I was running 165/65 and 175/60s)

This has gone SO off topic.. Filters? You can use 'trumpet socks',but I've made an airbox with a stainless mesh filter on the end of an 80mm pipe that leads to it,and the filter goes in that 200mm duct at the front. Its not currently fitted due to problems keeping it secure.
