I just got myself thinking, how many NZ engined mk3 polos are there??? how many are left?? how many are in this club??? so far all i know of is that i am the only one, proberly wrong.

lol yeah, i see alot of 1.3 engines with the round air filter on top of the carb, but never seen an NZ

i don't know anyone with an original NZ engined Polo

But.....

my brothers got an NZ motor in his (did'nt have this originally)........he got the engine out of a H reg CL Coupe

also his mk1 Golf is now NZ injected

he got all the NZ bits off a H reg Squareback

Nearly all the 1.3 Mk3 saloons have NZ engines. They are fairly common in the 1.3 Genesis models too, one of which is in my local scrappers.

they are now coming at of the wood work,

i got an origanal NZ injection. just reached 114K and still going

hi i have just fitted a70K NZ to my coupe ..i drove the doner car home .but I'm now having running probs ...if i un plug the blue temp sensor it will start and run fur a couple of mins but then stalls ..any help would be great ..othewise the injection is going in the bin and I'm fitting a carb/s

i had one, kam had one. theres another two.

its got to be fuel related because if i spray a mist of fuel into to inlet it runs quite well , lol

have you checked the injectors are working properly?

could be the regulator on the rail?

I'll move this to the tech section now. Did you swap the fuel pumps underneath the car over?

are the all the plugs the right way and stuff cos they're pretty solid engines. mine was knocking on 150k and had no problems ran sweet as a nut.

i swapped the in line pump over but not the lift pump .i didnt touch the plugs and leads until i had these probs ,since i have swapped plugs dizy cap and arm I'm an auto sparks by trade and I'm 99.9% sure its not ignition as its sand alone i .?????????

From memory, the green plastic fuel line connects to the plastic spout on the fuel rail and the black plastic fuel line connects to the outlet (bottom) spout on the fuel rail.

but what i cant understand is ,it wont start with the blue temp sensor plugged in ,i have tryed two others

looking at it the only ones you can mix up is the temp plugs and they are colour coded

mine was a NZ as standard. but i broke it, big time so now its got a gt which is also slightly broken as of sunday.

nz is a good strong engine, mine was on 120k running sweet as. until i when through a big puddle and hit the sump on something. anyway they dont last to long with no oil, lesson learnt.

and no the oil light didnt come on until it was 2 late

I have an original NZ, ticked over to 120k the other week. really good engine. gt cam, decat and a chip all being well will be fitted over the summer for a bit more poke

IF I'm right in thinking that every engine number listed in ETOS is a direct reflection of the number of engines fitted to Polos (and that they weren't installed in any other VW), then there were about 100,000 NZ powered Polos made, worldwide. This was between 31/10/1990 and 30/12/1992. However, it took 6 months for the final 273 NZ units to find a home. The chances are, if my AAU is anything to go by, that some NZ engined Polos were still being sold well into the latter half of 1993. What Polo got what engine and why, is quite a mystery though, because AAV (Spi) units also seem to be fitted from Jan 1991.
