Serious cluelessness going on here - does anyone have a clue what they're talking about? The Police cannot issue endorsements. They can only try to get a court to order a punishment for an offense they record you doing,and any endorsement can only be issued by the DVLA. The police are reporters of law breaking,they're the prosecution. They have powers to restrain but not punish.

If you got points,the court would've taken your licence. You would've been told to bring it to the court and they would've taken it. If you have to produce your documents to the police station,this should've been asked at the roadside and done within 7 days. But taking them to the station now is to show you were legal when stopped,nothing else.

I know what am talking about, as this actually happened to me, and they can issue you with points.

If you park car in a dangerous postiion on the road, which violates the highway code, then that means you're breaking the law, you pay the price.

Simple as that!

If you mean by endorsments as in points then you are cleary wrong....

DVLA applies the endorsements....well i never seen the dvla, i had 10 days to hand in my counterpart and drivers license and they write the endorsement on your counterpart at the sheriff officer...

Are you sure you live in the UK?

If you are pulled over by the police and are found to have commited an offence the police CAN and WILL issue you with and endorsable fixed penalty notice.

i have been pulled for speeding before and issued with 3 points and £60 fine. you only go to court if you decide to appeal.

So police can issue points on your licence.

Theres no point in appealing on the grounds that you honestly didnt know, because the law states ignorance is no defence, you cant say you didnt break the law because you didnt know their was a law in the first place. They're bastards like that...

...so UNLESS you can make yourself cry and be very convincing you're guarenteed to get a fine but I'm really not sure about the points, depends what sort of magistrate you get in the end and how bad a day they've had
