Ahh In worried like crap

Featured Replies

On wednesday I was driving back from mates house around 12ish, going up hill in 4th gear, didnt notice the speed camera van on my left handside until i went passed it, I was in a 30 zone but I'm not sure what i was doing if it was 35, 40, or 45 or above. Recieved a letter stating the following :

Notice of intended proceedings, in accordance with section 1 of the road traffic offenders act 1988 .... give notice that it is intended to take proceedings against motor vehicle ... for the alleged offence of speeding - exceed 30mph on resticted road - manned equipment.

Does this mean a fixed penalty and points or is it going to be more serious than this?

Thanks in advance.

All depends on how fast you were going when they caught you, I assume they didn't mention this in the NIP?

NIP came at through the post doesn't have nothing about the speed I was going , it was a 30 zone, I'm sure i was doing under 50, not sure how much over i was. Do you think its worth asking?

Well if you're planning to post the NIP back saying that you were the driver at the time, they will send you a letter to say they have received the NIP and will confirm how fast you were going. How long have you been driving for?

Also where abouts did you get caught?

Held Liecence for 2 year in april just gone, It was in nottingham, up abbey road on a hill, didnt notice the van or my speed. take the road nearly everyday and wednesday took a spin for the worst, am i expecting a fixed penalty with points in a 30 zone doing 45?

My dad got caught by a camera van doing exactly 45 in a 30, and got 3 points with a £60 fine.

Don't they have to inform you on the NIP of your speed?

i thought they did print the speed you were going at in the initial letter if i remember correctly, as my dad was caught whilst driving in my mums car and the letter she got said everything and she had to send it back saying that he was driving the car and the letter was sent out re-addressed to him.

strange

Nope they don't have to tell you how fast you were caught speeding on the NIP, at over 45mph in a 30mph zone you might be unlucky with 6 points, but fingers crossed that your speedo overeads and you'll have got yourself a FPN (3 points and 60 pounds fine)

On my one, it said the speed along with where the camera was. maybe it depends what office it came out of?
