Chances are you'd get away with pressed German more than black and white.

Black and white plates are for cars pre a certain date, not sure what it is though.

Just seen them on a couple of cars and they look pretty sweet, think they would go well against a black car.

I may just get them and velcro them over my other plates, if i get stopped they can be wipped off!

Just to be awkward,I'm going to say pre-73,as with free tax,still making the Life on Mars Cortina's M registration illegally displayed. The only water-cooled VW to qualify was the NSU-derived type 48 saloon,introduced in 1970,and badged as the K70 - the car that helped VW to design their own water cooled engines.

I think they are also from Gurnsey or Jersey registered cars.

There is a huge merc round my parents way with them reg is OBO 10 or summit.

The lettering is fine on one of the ones off of dubmeister...the only thing which is now illegal is the "D" as now under UK legislation you can only have UK or the euro flag. So yes i was slightly off but i think the police only bother if the plates look very un-legible tbh (well up here they don't bother to much)

Yes indeed the british pressed plates group buy Kam sorted out was great. They actually do make the car look better!

Only on Guernsey cars can you have black and silver or yellow and white. Jersey have to be the standard white and yellow ones.

Main reason allowing black and silver plates, the speed limits are too low and there is not a single speed camera

And am in total agreement with Test Richie.

German plates are illegal as the font on the lettering is diff to the UK font so thats why there illegal, I've got normal unbanded and a black n white set, the normal set I've never been pulled, but the black n white ones I've been pulled once for but the copper was sound n let me go without having to change them over! i recon my time is running out thou!

My parents 1970 renault 12 had 'normal' number plates, not black and white ones.

Quite a few police cars have automatic numberplate scanners, which instantly flash up an untaxed/uninsured car.

If you have a non standard numberplate the scanner won't work, which is why they are so bothered about it.

Shame they aren't as bothered about rapists, paedophiles, burglars, muggers......
