Golf mk3 rear seats into a mk4 polo

Featured Replies

hawyziee has been nice enough to wirte up this little guide

Backrests of seats

to get the backrests to fit in place you will need to swap the metal backings for the polo ones as the mk3 golf items are too wide

working round the material, unclip the material from the metal backing. it is clipped in place by long plastic sections at the edge of the material

once all the material is unclipped then remove the foam/material from the backings

now transfer the material/foam from the golf backings to the ones from your polo seats. clip the material in place all the way round and that's them finished

Bases of seats

the bases of the seats are a straight swap, although you will notice that the polo bases clip in place by a flexible metal bars which clips into two little metal cylinder things on the car and the golf seats bave two metal brackets which screw on to the car

basically you have to pull these metal brackets off of the metal bars on the golf seats and then you should be able to clip the seats in place in a similar way to how the polo ones did, the brackets can be pretty hard to pull off, but after a lot of pulling and twisting they do come off eventually!

i found this to be the easiest way to fit the seats, by doing it this way, everything fits in place and works as it should, although i did notice that the bases ofthe seats sat a tiny bit further back than the polo seats but they do look perfect and you notice no real difference when sitting on the seats

  • Just wondering f I could use this guide to put mk3 golf seats into my polo coupe mk2f? Would love to throw a set of vr6 leathers in, I know the fronts need a bit of hammering to fit.

Cheers for this

Does this have to be done for the mark3 golfs to fit in a 6N2 also?

Or is that just a straight swap?

I've had a search around but am finding mixed opinions

Just found out, for anyone who wants to know the rear bench does NOT fit in a 6N2 polo without serious work

Is this true?

Either way wont bother me, I've gotta try and make S3 rear seats fit in mine.

Its because you need to swap the fabric from the golf seats onto the foam and back plate of your standard seats. I used this guide and it came out OK. However i have a mk4

Would this also work for mk2 golf interior?

This thread has come in so handy for me... I was going getting clips and brackets off a mk3 golf to do this.. just changed all the leather on the my backs and it fits perfect. Well happy now :-)

THanks

Kyle

will be using this to fit my new mulberry heated vr6 leathers on sunday :D and anyone wired up heated seats yet, if so how hard and how worth it are they? :D

if you have the loom and you're not a tard, heated seat wiring isn't hard.

it's all 90 spec colour coded anyways.

it's where to put the switch that you should think about.

If I follow the guide as many of you have done, will it all go into my 6N2? I'm confused now lol.

much apresheated for the help

To put mk3 golf front seats into a mk4 polo (6n) no modifying is needed! They are a straight swap. Its only the backs that you have to fiddle with as described above.
