Just been reading through a old PVW magasine, and this guys got a 16v engine in his mk1 polo.

its running a G40 gearbox and mk1 golf GTI fuel pump. whats the advantages of this?

just gear ratios really, cant see that it would make it any quicker seeing as the G40 box is longer ratios that the 16v box

16vTej is pushing around that may be worth asking him. Think Jez was pushing closer to 140bhp

but probably going to be : decat, 4 branch, induction kit, exhaust, remap.

Not too familiar with 16v heads but a port/polish couldn't hurt.

I've done nearly all that shit. dunno what mines running,??

To get 130 you will need the usual filter, manifold, exhaust + cams, verniers and remap.

Should see 115bhp from filter,exhaust and manifold.

I spent £400 I think on my Sorg Group N cams.

OK cheers. This is gay, I've been looking into a few non-G40 conversions for a Mk3 (basically planning to spend my money before I've even got it ).

I'd really rather like an all alloy engine, Kam says some Lupo ones are, but it's which ones? What's the lightest gearbox? I heard there was a magnesium VW gearbox, or is this just cup cars or something? Would really like to sort a few facts out so I know what I'm looking for.

Possibly, the cams deffo won;t be near £400, put it that way!!

what sort of price will be lookin for cams?

Its an expensive hobby, believe me. And that with me fitting all the stuff, goods knows how much I would of spent if I have to pay for labour too.
