This is the annoying thing with Polos...they can hide their rust well!

With regards to the 'stone chip': Bilt Hamber do a clear underbody Wax (Dynax UC). Not as strong as normal black tarry stuff so will probably need touching up more regularly but might be worth looking in to?

Might be worth applying some of their cavity wax too (Dynax S50). I've just used some on my Mk2f following some restoration and it seems quite good, it gets good write ups too. It's easy to apply thanks to the aerosol and long injection lance. After all, it would be a shame for the tin-worm to reappear after all this work!

Cheers guys, shame it needs so much more welding! The welding on the passenger side is now finished, and the new front panel is ready to go on, will upload pics tomorow

I really need to update this thread, the car is currently getting all the welding finished, it was media blasted last week, and hopefully will be painted in the next couple of months, will add pic later

Houses, babies and a campervan have meant this hasnt been touched much over the last few years, it'll hopefully be back on the road next year

Here are the pics, first lot are bare metal then the rest are in etch. Welding has been started this week, but it'll be a while before paint as I have no money!

Cheers guys, heres a few new pics, the rear panel has been replaced with a NOS VW one I got on ebay a few years ago. I never realised early and later mk1 derbys had slightly different rear panels, on the later cars the tow eye is lower down due to the larger bumper, the panel I bought was a later one so had to be modified to fit my car.

The bodge under the rear side window has been repaired properly and Dave is on with the inner sill on the drivers side :)

Well im still working on this! Slowly!

Engines now in, to say im happy is an understatement! Im totally buzzing! 

Show us more man!! It was just getting exciting!! 😂😂😂

I've moved house so things have been even slower than usual! Here it is in its new home, maybe get it finished this year!

How's it looking for finishing this year then? 😛 I may finally get around to mine next year. Only been sat there for 3 years. Spurred on by the fact my wife has found it and has fallen i love with it. That says a lot bearing in mind its a bare shell in primer and I don't have any suspension or powertrain components for it. Currently sat on a pallet.

I knew better than to let her poke around the workshop on her own :(.........

Haha, its still not finshed! Its not far off though. Brake lines are all in, fuel pump mounted, half the electrics are done, maybe get it done this year.........

Will be great to see it finished. My 4dr golf is finally back from paint jail so that's going together now. Once that's done I can crack on with the polo. It's currently as I bought it a bare shell in primer with all the rust repaired. Few bits need tidying but more or less ready to paint. Got all the trim parts but no drivetrain or suspension. I will try and get some photo's up

I finally got this running a few weeks ago! But I ran into a problem with it not going into gear, I've asked the question in the technical help section, if anyone can help please let me know, cheers!

 

 

 

Gearbox is back in and working, I'll be honest I'm not sure what the problem was, I've fitted a new release bearing whgile it was out and its all ok now. I've had the ignition timing adjusted and carbs tuned and its running great, just need to get the wiring finished and few other small jobs done.
