When i put my foot down in the MK2 GT and the revs fly up. It pulls past 4k but the needle just seems to float around the 4-4.5k mark.

Is this something unusual or not?.

yea same, i put it down to my little 1043 running out of breath after 4500rpm

dodgy wire somewhere? bad earth on the clocks?

urrrrm possibly voltage regulator on the clocks (if the clocks used have one!)

my 1043 doesnt run out of breath till it screams at me past 5.5k lol its surprisingly nippy for the engine size

My 1.3 doesn't run out of breath until the 7k mark

well ner the mk3 I'm driving goes past 6 o clock (thats wayyyy past 7k)

I was giving it a bit of stick before and the point at which it gets stuck. It just jumped and caught up with the engine to like 6.5 or something.

But its only done it the once so I'm thinking maybe strip down the dash and have a fidlle. i need to change some bulbs anyhow.
