Mine wasn't - perhaps yours wasn't from VAG or for a G40...

vag part # 026 198 421 - same on all mk3 polo engines,.. regardless of g40 or not .. 12,59 euros including tax...

quick search on etka reveals a shed-load of engines all using same thrust bearings... including mk2 golf synchros etc!!

as i said they're this morning they're 28 quid which is right from what you remember paying as well dave. online etka prices or etka program prices are all over the place and un reliable as i have it and the prices are never right. ever. i rang the dealership this morning. 28 quid for a thrust bearing and yes they're all the same. I've ordered a LUK clutch kit. the bearing should be fine apparently its the valeo ones that have a rep for problems after talking to a few people and what happened to you dave.
