hi i have just purchased a new polo gt and i have been told that lamder probe has gone.

Is this is big job to do.

can i do it my self.

do i need any special tools.

no its easy enough to do, with no special tools required. if you dont get a new proble straight away, just unplug it at the connection on the inlet manifold

theres also another problem that has started

my polo gt does not start, it started perfect this morning and now i have tried it about 20 times and she just does not start.

Turn ignition on without starting engine and you should hear the fuel pumps priming behind you (problems with relays can stop the pumps running). Also check for corroded engine earths. The one that attaches to ignition coil can cause problems.

The lambda can be difficult to unscrew from the cat. Soak with plenty of WD40 first.

is it not starting since unplugging the lambda? try plugging it back in and see if it'll start. This is normally a sign that the lambda isn't the only sensor giving out duff readings.

I managed to get a new lambda for just over £50 from gsf, but i hope thants my only problem

I have unpluged the lambda and i still have the problem

If i try switching the engine on 20 times it will only start about 2 times

it does not matter if the engine is hot or cold as somtimes after driving the gt for about 1 hour once switched off it still does not start??
