If you have a mk4 polo 1.0, does your gearbox make any noises like a very faint 'scarping' sound? or any other sounds such as gear change clunk etc?

my ones the spi, seems pretty quiet, never noticed any noises. On the subject of 1l boxes what are the mpi gearboxes like? my spi one is doing about 2000rpm in 5th at 35mph.

What is the dieal gearbox oil capacity for the 1.0 mpi box and is this product suitable:

what 1 should i have: 80/90 or 85/145?

Of the 2 6n 1.0s and 2 6n2 1.0s we've had in my family, all had problems getting into reverse - theres a knack to it, you can feel when when it's not meshed before you lift the clutch. Going forwards they were all fine and quiet- Polo #3 got a little bit a clunky after 70,000 but is was still going fine when we let it go at 120,000

I'll check the revs on my MPI tomorrow neb, sounds about the same as mine. off the top of my head

2000rpm / 5th / 35mph

3000rpm / 5th / 55mph

4000rpm / 5th / 75mph

I can hear the gearbox a bit when I let off the clutch, I think it's a worn release bearing but I'm not 100% sure. Not the same car, but just to say.

like a very feint 'rustling' sound - mostly in second gear. I'm getting the oil changed today anyway
