its on an 895cc mk1 polo,a solex 31 pic 5, anyone know of a suitable replacement?, tried google but no avail,I've got a fannymold and carb of a 1 litre sat in garage, its a weber,may put that on, but if theres an easier solution id be interested to hear as , ill have to remove the autochoke on the weber and block the exhaust heat pipe off etc.

Solex's are normally pretty doggedly reliable. Find a Mk2 in a scrap yard up to an A-reg and it'll probably have a solex on (manual choke is the clue). Failing that, weber could work (manual choke kits are available) if it's the right model.
