Dented fuel lines will cause the car to act like its hitting the limiter. At low RPM there is enough fuel getting there but at high RPM its wanting more fuel, isn't getting it and then feeling like you've hit the limiter. I know you said checked the fuel lines but might be worth going over them again and seeing if there is any dents in them. Try whacking some of that fuel cleaner stuff in there, if theres any crap of debris in the fuel lines it'll get rid of it.

Have you checked for any intake leaks? The rubber gasket between the carb and inlet manifold may have perished, as I’m lead to believe this is a common issue. This could be weakening the mixture sufficiently enough for the car to keep cutting out. Running with the choke out could be enriching it enough to run. Just a thought anyways.

i dont think the gasket has gone, i was pushing the carb around and nothing funny happened with the engine, so i assume it's fine.

I pretty much had the same problem....the car would kangaroo about when warm then i'd loose all power. My mechanic replaced my distributor but he also said the spark plugs can go under load so worth changing them aswell. I did some research on it too and have also changed the vacuum pipes and the pipe from the air box to the exhaust manifold and gave the air temp vacuum thingy (tech speak!) in the air intake a clean, and I've lost the kangarooing so far....touch wood Hope this helps! :-)

i solved the problem by taking the engine out, throwing it ing the bin, buying a low mileage GT engine and running it on throttle bodies..... :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
