For the people with mk1 polos and derbys!

Who do you use to insure your cars with? Any advice on getting a low premium?

try and get on a classic car policy, tell them youll drive the car less than 5k a year...

adrian flux insure me for super cheap on my golf (576 quid, I'm 22, 7 points, 1 claim) and its all insured like for like. I couldnt get under the classic car policy i dont think as i have too many modifications but i told them i do less than 5k miles which got it down significantly

I've got my mk2 coupe on a classic policy with lancaster. Well worth looking into.

Footman James are good for classic policys- no mods though (may get away with wheels). Gave me a great quote on the land rover if I put it back to standard, but couldnt insure it with the diesel conversion.

Phone them up, 'cos they are really helpful over the phone in my experience, but their website thingy is useless.

another vote for Lancaster if you can get the car on a classic policy. a mate of mine used to have his mk1 golf insured with them for a very cheap price. Not sure how good they are for modifications though, just give them a ring.

dont you have to watch out for your no claims bonus with classic car policies, when I had one many years ago, you didnt increase your ncb each year and when you went back to a normal car you started from scratch again. And they used to treat a classic as a second car, so you had to be able drive another car too.....

.....of course that may not be the case these days with classic car policies
