ignitions switch

Featured Replies

anyone had any probs with their ignition switch on the 6n 1999???

the other day, i started tha car, it ran for about 10 seconds, then all the electrics cut off......

the 80amp fuse blew under the bonnet, and the f***ing ignition barrell has blown, now i can turn the key and it brings the ignition lights on on dashboard, but when i turn the key, nothing happens, i've had to wire i separate switch to push to start the car.

had to get the AA fella out coz i didn't have a clue what they hell it was, and he's told me that the part i need HAS to be fitted by VW as the bolt that keeps the barrel in place has a flush head with nowhere to put a screwdriver on.

has anyone had to replace their ignition barrel/ignition switch???

and if so, how much did it cost you???

thanks in advance

Pete

common as on the 6n, mine went so a mate of mine did it for me on the driveway. would recommend getting a mechanic to to it though cos the airbag has to be removed. the part is cheap, but its the labour that will cost you. took my mate a couple of hours to sort.
