anyone deleted thier centre exhaust box?

I'm thinking of deleting my centre box and keeping my brand new standard back box (albeit with a modified tailpipe)

anyone done this?

will it sound it ok?

Its on a Mk3 Polo 1.3 SPI

Mines got no centre box on it. Coupled with a scorpian back box sounds the dogs!

bear in mind mine is de-catted though, and has a K & N like.

ill be looking to fit a cone filter in the future but ill be keeping the cat for now

so its not overly loud then?

I was driving around with my cat and midbox practically separated and it was loud as fuck, but sounded ace as well. They had rusted apart, totally.

The mid box is just an expander,the back box is the only muffler on the system anyway. I've removed my mid,and its not much louder. Sounds great,raspy - but I'm using a bigger engine and bigger box now,so cant compare old for new,fairly.

There is a MoFo hole just behind the cat on mine, sounds great if you boot it!

Just a straight through box I believe.

It would make it marginally "raspier" IMO, but not louder etc. Go to scrappers and find a "performance" backbox. that'll sort your problems lol

Must say mine is relatively loud nowadays. BUT its a dead good sound, not like a f-kin 1.4 escort with a massive jap can on it (with no other mods lol).
