Hi all

Thanks again for all your help before, onle last question, i am getting my clutch replaced on my v reg 1.4cl polo and i just want to make sure that it is the clutch going. My only worry is that when the car is cold the gears seem to go in ok when i change them, its only when the car warms up a bit after a bit of a drive that its really stiff getting the gears in, and i mean really stiff!

Is this normal for a worn clutch? or should it be hard all the time to get it in gear? i just want to know as the mechanic says it is the clutch but he has just sat in it like me and went through the gears when they were stiff.

ps one last thing! the mechanic says he is bought a clutch kit for the car, does this include the flywheel? is it common practice to change the flywheel as well or could that be ok? as u can see i am not a car expert lol

clutch kit = pressure plate, clutch plate, release bearing if i understand things properly

when my golf clutch went, i couldnt take it in/out of gear........ very stiff... but then again it could have been the dodgy auto adjusting cable not releasing the clutch properly

so will the flywheel need replacing too do you think?

No it's not common practice to change a flywheel with the clutch.

oh yeh, forgot to answer that question. no its not common to change the flywheel!

Unless you have a lot of free time and a penchant for undoing and retorquing flywheel bolts.
