is the pump wet ? thats the main cause... water leaking in thru the back light...

does it make any feeble attempt/noise when you unlock the door Chris?

sounds like its possibly suffered the inevitible water damage thet occurs so many times on mk4's

if it makes a slight noise it sounds like it still maybe rescued...

take out the unit and sit it either in an airing cupboard or on a tea towel on the radiator overnight!

when you upnplug it look for corrosion on the pins on the pump i had this so cleaned them slightly and it began to work again but then heavy rain caused a larger leak of water and resulting in flooding the circuit borad completely!

as a precaution when i replaced it i put the unit in a ziplock bag and made sure i tightened up all the seal on the light cluster and had no problems from then on!

hmm well I've taken it off and it was a bit damp like, i have left it on the boiler drying out with the lid off it. the pins are reasonably clean, was a bit manky in there tho

hmmmmmm sounds like it has suffered a bit of a water leak, have you changed the rear lights on yo mk4?

just nip up the bolts to check the seal is spot on! 8-)

def recommend sticking it in a ziplock back to prevent any more water damage!

fingers croassed rying it oput will resurrect it! :D

works like a peach. gave the bolts on the back light a nip up aswell. might seal the pump up in a ziplok bag as suggested, got a box full of them
