Just got my new 1.4 16v

Got one small problem...

I need to get rid of that NZ sticker but it's old and gone hard and brittle, i've taken a small bit off and it's obviously gonna leave glue marks. What's the best way to deal with it?

try a search for rear badge removal (unless you know how to already) and remove the sticker and try the method used to remove the sticky residue left behind the badges

Heat gun will do the trick to remove the sticker, but be careful you dont melt the paint work in the process. As for the glue left behind use a solvent, as we call it the trade "degreaser". Works everytime, finish it off with abit of polish and wax.

Its going to be a delicate operation to remove that plastic without damaging the paint. The glue may need a seperate approach. Heat guns are designed to remove paint but thorough heating is good - id use plenty of very hot,not boiling,water. Like pouring it on for a few moments with a watering can. If the glue wont budge with anything,try 'sticky stuff remover'. I dont know where you get it,but its allegedly safe for kids to use and removes most sticky label glues. Otherwise,its gonna be a solvent,as mentioned above. All solvents damage paint. Petrol is quite gentle,but might not be strong enough. Same with Tcut. Solvent degreasers are a little more aggressive,and risk to the paint rises. '3M adhesive cleaner' will wipe that sticker off,and the glue,in seconds. But you'll need to dry it off the paint straight away and not rub hard,as it will take it off at 10x the rate Tcut does. However you manage it,the paint will need a Tcut,polish and wax afterwards.

also lynx deoderant sprayed on the glue will remove the sticky stuff i used it on the mini lol dont ask y i did it lol

tip use petrol or tar and glue remover

Kim and Agy say use mayonaise rubbed into the sticker and let it soak..

then softly "scrape" it off

I'd try boiling a kettle near to it. Steam may help free up the glue. Lynx is wicked stuff. It takes sticky kack off, removes permanent marker and if you want to be really clever, it can make you smell nice too!

plege polish is good for removing sticky stuff.

spay on leave for 5-10 mins and wipe off with a cloth

I saw those sticky stuff remover wipes in halfords if that helps...no idea if they're any good though.
