I placed an order for a hall sender for my gt at gsf. They said that they are no longer available. On the euro car parts website, they list an ignition pulkse sensor.

Is a hall sender the sam ething as an ignition pulse sensor? Also, are GT and G40 hall senders the same?

gt and g40 are the same, sounds like the same thing to me..

sounds expensive, if its for the GT (guessing from your name..) find a dizzy on any mk3 polo and use the hall sender out of that (yes,.. i know the shafts are different - your still using gt shaft, and yes i know the hall sender isnt exactly the same lay out... but it works exactly the same)

I've just fitted a hall sender from a spare spi dizzy i had. However i still have the problem of the car missfiring. I've also just checked the fuel pump and filter (which were fine), fitted a new coil pack, new plugs and dizzy cap and cleaned the earths.

Any suggestions as to why it's missfiring and hesitating would be apprecciated.

sounds like your timing may be out

The timing on the belt, or the dizzy? I'll check the belt now, i don't have a strobe to check the ignition timing.

i was thinking dizzy, but worth checking both if you can!

I would say the timing on the belt also, because even though you are not messing with it directly its all linked when you are changing the dizzy and/or hall sender? I know its a little out there but have you tried Stealers? I bought a brand new unit (may have been re-con, not sure how they do it, but obviously genuine) on swap basis for my old unit for £75-80 mark. They fitted it also making sur the timing was spot on. charged me 1 hour labour if i remember.

start with checking belt timing - at least you can do this, minimum of tools and in plain view almost...

then get a cheap strobe timing gun and check dizzy timing yourself! (i'd rather have the tools and experiance than pay the same amount to pay someone to do it, and not get to keep the tools)

afterall, its easy once you have the timing gun! (and youl always use it more than once lol)
