Hi, I've got a sub and amp fitted already in the boot, and since the amp is only really suitable for powering the sub, I've got another amp ready 2 fit, and I'm wondering, instead of wiring the car again, can i join the new amp to the first one to power it, its for powering 6x9s?

using one wiring kit on 2 amps? risky but possible.

personally i wouldn't!!!!

i would run a sperate power cable for the second amp. Signal (lets the amp know when to turn on) you could split, and as for audio signal, does you amp (first or second) have a phono output for another amp?

Assuming that the original supply cable is of enough gauge, I don't see why not.

The professional way of doing it is by running the main supply cable to a distribution block. Failing that, you could bridge from the 1st amp +ve. (bit bodge but does the job)

Make sure that there is an inline fuse at the battery end.

Run a seperate earth, and bridge the remote wire.

You then just need to decide on wether to split the signal wire, or run another from the headunit.

Yea theres a fuse at the battery end and i used a 12 gauge wiring kit, so it should be plenty, how much would an alrite distribution block be?and would that be the best way to go about it?

12gauge is nowhere near enough for 2amps! id want 4gauge atleast!

12gauge is what i use for speaker wire !

Or just get some 4 gauge and wire in from scratch. that way, when you decide to add a 3rd amp, it will make life easier.

I woudn't risk 8 gauge on 2 amps.

Recommend changing to 4G definatly mate......make sure you buy the correct distribution block for your wire size too.

8 gauge would smoke!

I run two amps of one power lead using a dist block and have been doing so for about 18 months, Cant remember what guage wire it is but its pretty thick. As long as your using one of the thicker ones you'll be ok.

Personally id just run two power cables, both with fuses, bridge the remote, and if one amp has an output phono, go from there to the 2nd amp.

i'd use a distribution block to split off your power cable, i got these two wires which will split the audio cables to two if you fancy buying them?(i was gonna run two amps but never got round to it)

then you'll have to split your amp remote wire somehow and the earth cable just need to do again.

i would seriously look into upgrading battery or buying a fat power capacitor!!!!!
