iv just got some new 16v bumpers for my mk4 what the problem is that they are patterned parts <(if that is the right word) as in not the bloody expensive ones from VW and are made from plastic not tin.

what i need to no is what primer/paint is best as from what i understand the parts are classed as flexible plastic because they are not 100% stiff. all so i have a full spray gun kit if that widens my choice of what primer and paint i can use.

if any one has a how to or has any advice on spraying these bumpers it would be very appreciated. cheers :p

For a decent paint finish take it to body shop, who will charge you £60-£120.

Or for a rough arse finish D.I.Y, cheap as chips lol.

prep bumpers, use a plastic primer 1st then give them a coat of 2pac paint......

i luked at the plastic primer in halford but I'm not sure if its the right stuff to use because it says something about not being suitable for plastics with flex,

from the book iv been lukin at any sort of plastic parts with a bit of give is classed as flexible and should be treated different to say Rigid plastic lol. as the bumper are off the car there not supported yet and errr.. seem a bit bendy

I didn't think the bumpers on a Mk4 were metal...

The plastic primer stuff should be fine, once the bumper is attached but I don't think I'd want to spray it off the car, it could crack but I don't know.

Bottom half of the 8v rear bumper is metal dunno about 16v ones.
