MK4 Boot Lighting

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I've got a 1999 MK4 polo CL, its a good car with some nice extras, but the only thing I cant find is where the boot light is. I have looked everywhere for some hint as to where it could possibly be because a boot light for me would be so useful.

If anyone could like show me possibly with a picture it would help alot. I know thats cheeky but the amount of times the neighbours have come back from work and I am standing just looking at the boot, must look a tad strange lol.

Thanks in advance

Dan

Mines on the left, underneath that plastic trim where the parcel shelf sits on the edge of, :)

I second that, on the right just under the plastic! :) mine was randomly disconnected when i brought my car, just plugged back in fine :)

ok I've had a good look today, but there is nothing there, i guess it was disconnected by the previous owner.

Mine didnt come with one at all.... i think some just didnt

Hmm have a look and see if the plastic trim has a slot where the light should go? If there is look for some loose wires and then look for somewhere to buy a bootlight :D

If you don't find anything then i guess that running a small light to the boot isn't too much hassle?

is the light like a circle, like does it fit in a circle bracket?

Did you buy the car from a dealer. I ask because you see them @ the garage with the tailgate up. When i got mine they had taken the bulb out to stop it flattening the battery i suppose. Just a thought.

Thats a very good thought, because I did get it from a second hand dealer and when going to see it they did have the tailgates up. Wonder if theres a way of putting it on, not a big deal really, just a great convience if your using the boot all the time in the dark like me (not for carrying dead bodys or owt)

Nah it's quite a struggle to get a dead body in the back of a Mk4. Theres more room in a Mk6...

mines on the left :)

No thats true, now a MK2 boot that would be perfect because its bigger in overall area, but still u can fit more sainsburys bags in a MK4 because the boot well is bigger in depth.

Either way it would be good to see either lol

I've fit people in my boot fine beforehand, then even complimented me saying that it was comfortable!!! although they didn't enjoy the sound of VERY cheap 6x9's on the shelf :D lol
