Hiya guys, just bought myself a little mk3 coupe GT and i'm wanting to fit a set of 15" teledials i have to it, 32 mm offset with the 20mm hub adapters that i have

also, i want to lower it 60mm with a philj kit which i'm hoping will be fairly hard, and i know i'm gonna need arch work, but just how far am i gonna have to go?

I've just fitting a set of 15" estoril alloys to my mk3 square without any arch mods! used 165/50 tyres, were a bugger to fit on the rim (it was the 1st time ever done this though!) how wide are the teledials, if they are much more than 7j you can rule out this tyre cos it wont go on!

there 7" mate, i dont wanna go with really skinny tyres though because i intend to drive it like it should be driven lol. dint mind streching a bit but i'd rather go for 195/45 if poss

I had 13x6 ET30 with 175/50 tyres on and they weren't stretched. I had to pull the arches out a fair bit to get them to sit there. I was using a cup car kit though, I think if I wasn't using a kit as hard as that I would hav egot rubbing. You could always go for shocks/springs at the front and then coilies at the back...?

judging by that reply mate, am i guessing its just the back that i'm going to have trouble with? if its not by much, i'd rather go for 175/50s and a bit of trimming here and there and just go 60 all round

dougstar21 is down 70mm allround on 13x6s with 175/50s on his square! PM him and ask how he sorted his rear arches!

you'd be suprised how well a mk3 polo will handle on 165s, i can sling my g40 into bends at silly speeds and that only on 165/55 r14s. wide tyres dont always = better handling and more grip (well thats what my old engineering tutor told me at college!)

yeah but wotuldnt a rediculous stretch make it a bit less safe? the roads round here arnt the best either....

good point, the ones on my g are stretched over 7j though and you should see my local roads (i use that term loosely, more like mud tracks!) i must admit though it has made me a little more reluctant to go fast! they dont look mega stretched though. I'm sure there a fair few 6n driver running them on fairly big stretches, but then they dont tend to drive as nutty as mk3 owners!

to be honest, even the main roads this far oop north are fairly terrible, and i'd rather not go with such a stretch, maybe 175/50 would be a better choice?

probably, have a play around on one of those tyre calculator sites (there is a link in the faq bit) then go to mytyres.co.uk to see what sort of price the tyres are and if the size even exists! (175/50 r15s deffo do though!) i only went for 165/50s coz of fitting them to a squareback, that and they only cost me £115 for the 4 (fitted them myself)

to be honest mate i just use or local tyre place, there as cheap as black circles anyways, and list all the sizes they stock on there website, and one of the guys there is a dub nut too and drives a nice beetle so i'm sure i could persude him to have a go at putting something on for me.

i like using good tyres though, and there not really that available in 175/50/15, what do you use?

federals on my square (only just tried it but they seem to grip well) and hankook ventus on the g40 (grip very well in dry, not so great in the wet, but wear rate seems pretty good)

see if i go 175/55 i can get khumo ecstas but the extra sidewall will come into play then.... decisions decisions lol

175/55 khumos ecstas or 175/50 khumo solus.....
