After searching for a torque wrench, amongst other things, I stumbled across the Screwfix website - nipped up to my local branch and 10 mins later had a 1/2" drive torque wrench for £12.49 inc VAT ! Hmm looks good. I'm sure it will be useful for alot of people who still need to build themselves a tool kit. I personally get a good deal on tools from the snap on guy that comes round the garage i work at £20 a week until i have payed off the amount the tools i take costs. It works our slightly cheaper overall (cheaper at snap on's standards) but every time he come the bill seems to get bigger

Snap-on van comes round where I work as well, but I tend to pay everything off outright. When I start to buy more expensive things I'll have to pay them off weekly though...

I'm not going to pay over £200 for some neway valve seat cutters when I can make carbide tipped ones using electric planer blades for less than £10 8-)

having said that my £9.99 argos angle grinder has lasted much longer than the Bosch ones I used to buy.

We've got one of the ones that screwfix sell as their own (ours is Clarke badged I think, but they're all the same). We've had it quite a few years, and while it's not as nice to use, it always seems to set to the same torque as the bluepoint (snap on's other brand) one. If I remember rightly, Practical Classics tested the Clarke one and gave it a best budget buy award.

clarke tools tend to be cheap and reliable!! (got a few from machinemart - can be quite cheap!)

i have a fair few clarkes,, as well as a proper proper cheapo halfords toolkit thats lasted me longer than 3 years
