8p thats mk3 right? If so then you need to mark the position of the selector on the shaft 1st. Disconnect the selector & slide rearwards. Clean the gunk off the shaft. Hook the old seal out with a sharp screwdriver. Not much oil will drip out. Slide on the new seal. IMPORTANT, must get the selector on in the exact position it came off. The bolt usually leaves a mark on the shaft. Job done.

cheers red

me car is a mk2 running a 2g engine with the 8p box.

so all i got todo throw it into 1st gear, mark out the selectors position

disconnected it, and just prise out the seal

is it easy to put the new seal in ?

Yep it should just slide over the shaft. Shaft needs to be clean though or you will shove muck into your box. Not a long job its just getting the selector back in the original spot.
