Mk1 GT conversion

Featured Replies

Got most of my bits etc just wondering how to connect the selector rod to the box. Is it a cut and shut of the mk1 & mk3 or can the mk1 be adapted?

Also will the mk1 arb still fit with the GT box, for some reason I think I remember reading it won't...

Anyone whos done the conversion give us a hola as I will no doubt have a couple more q's soon

Cheers

^ ?

I spoke to euro derby off the forum about the linkage few months go for when I do the conversion. Id get in touch with him if you can. But this is what he told me:

"The Linkage uses the rear part of the MK1 linkage (the cup that fits around the base of the mk1 gearlever), and the front part of the Mk2/3 5 speed linkage"

Hope this helps

Yeah, I've spoken to Vic a bit ago, thanks for the info :D

Anyone know about the ARB?

you wont be able to use the arb i dont think 4 and 5 speed arbs are different from one another, i think my gear linkage is an adapted mk1 affair, could get you a pic if you want?

I wouldnt mind seeing a pic / more info as well please. Gona be putting a 5 -speeder in my Mk1 at some stage.

Joe

vic also did my gear linkage too

basically using the mk1 rod, and mk3 cup (the part where the gear stick and nylon ball goes onto)

Guys, the 5 speed ARB fits all MK1's, just bolt it up. The 4 speed version will wear a hole in the end of the 5 speed gearbox casing, making a right bloody mess.

The Gear linkage is a cut & shut of the 4 speed MK1 cup and the 5 speed MK2/3 item. If anyone needs one making up, send me your MK1 and MK2/3 linkages and i'll make 'em up for you for nowt (or maybe a beer).... PM me.
