Oil Pump Removal / Refitting...

Featured Replies

I am thinking while my sump is being changed i may aswell use a new oil pump and chain....

Is it going to be beneficial and easy enough to change? I will be working from underneath the car so don't wanna be messing about too much...

Also is there anything I can fit incorrectly or mess up that would knacker the engine?

Many Thanks

Dave

You'll have to remove the cambelt lower pulley to fit the chain. It's easy enough to pull the pump off though.

As Yeha said - but there's no need. You can check it in situ with a feeler gauge for wear, and more importantly, you can tension the chain. You dont need to remove the belt for these. Then simply scrape any crap from the pick-up gauze. As long as those three are okay, changing the pump is pretty pointless.
