Someone pointed out something rather amusing to me at a meet yesterday, i had no idea. Bascially everytime i brake whilst having the indicator on the 3rd brake lights flashes alternatively to the indicators. Anyway here a short vid of what happens.

Any idea why this happens?

are these lights the standard lights on the car?

Because i bought myself some lexus style lights and it did exactly what urs is doing.

The looms haven't been changed just the outer casings. Iv had a think and thought myabe when the spoiler light was wired in it may have used the live from the hazzards?

Could just be a dodgy connection. Whether damp has got in there,its been poorly earthed,whatever. Lamp wiring is very simple,you want to just trace it back into the brake light circuit and check the connections.

oh.. but would this pass mot? does it flash when you indicate normally because this would confused the hell outa me if a car did that infront :p

Check all of the bulbs used are correct. If you have a stop/tail inetead of a single filament, or other way around, it could cause this.

if you want it fixed all you need to do is trace the wire, remove it from where it was terminated and just piggyback it off of one of your rear brake lights (in parallel!) and then the job should be a gooden! sometimes its just easier to redo something than try to find the fault
