Baffled Sumps for G40

Featured Replies

Looking on g-laderseite they used to supply baffled sumps which dont appear on thier shop anymore...???

Anyone have any idea's where to obtain a baffled sump? I have a windage tray but was under the impression a baffled sump would aid cooling?

Also can a baffled sump and PP windage tray be used in conjunction with each other?

Thanks

Dave

The only baffled sumps that I've seen simply have a plate welded in alongside the pump. Like this. Not worth importing from Germany, it's not rocket science to make your own. If you're really after good oil control, go with

this instead.

A baffled sump is to stop oil sloshing around quickly, so the pickup always has a good level of oil. Some of them are made from cast alu with fins running on the outside which will help dissapate heat, but an oil cooler is the best way to do this.

Windage Trays and and Oil Cooler it is then....

Thanks All,

Dave

windage tray will only help sploshing upwards. i can do baffled sumps cheep, on an exchange. going to do mine tomorrow will get pics.

more to the point. what is it with germans and painting things stupid colours?

Cause there always jacked up on herion.

if you;re baffling a sump dont forget to put a horizontal baffle around oil pickup, as under hard cornering the oil can go over the top of a vertical baffle.

and if you really want to go for oil control, anyone else managed to do a crank scraper yet :-D :-D

I've got one drawn, just not had the time or inclination to get it made yet.
